Chicago Bulls should be buyers and seller before the trade deadline
Who Chicago Bulls should sell on this year?
Most importantly that point guard spot needs to be addressed. But we need a captain to sail this ship that’s starting to sink. Making a move now while Bulls players still hold value is key. If I am the front office I am looking to dump salary, while trying to fix the very cheap fixable flaws on the current roster. Mainly because the injury bug has hit our core again this year and before we are 15 games below .500 and it’s too late.
Not only that, but Wendell Carter Jr. and Lauri Markkanan are losing value due to injury concerns as well. Better to part ways now while they hold value. Depending on how many games they miss again this year, their value may go down even further, so now would be the perfect time to make a move.
I will take an available player over an often injured player who misses tons of games due to injuries. Otto Porter Jr. will be moving on at seasons end as well. Gar and Pax are still holding the Bulls back due to many bad decisions during there over stayed tenure as the franchises decision makers.
Porter’s exit will open up cap space for the Bulls but that wont matter if we end this season with a losing culture that has existed for going on four years now.
As we get later into the season and reality of possibly another losing season begins to resonate, it will be much harder to get any value back from trades. Our young guys still have upside due to their ages.
Unless something drastically changes in the coming weeks, be prepared for more close losses as the Bulls will be competitive but without a true point guard and poor defense, closing out games will be impossible, the losing will continue until this rosters holes are fixed.
The last thing we need is losing to disrupt this process any more than it has too. Let’s show this core that this franchise cares about winning and address these major flaws in our current roster. Let’s keep moving in the right direction and move past yesteryears.
