Chicago Bulls: 3 players to blame for the 4-game losing streak
2) Chicago Bulls players to blame for 4-game skid
Coby White, Point Guard
There might not be a more inconsistent player for the Bulls core part of the rotation so far this season than the second-year 20-year-old former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard Coby White. The reigning NBA All-Rookie Second-Team selection is very hot and cold night in and night out for the Bulls out of the gates this season.
As a whole so far this season, White does look to be improved in a number of areas of his game. But he is still struggling in managing turnovers at times, along with poor on-ball defending, and spotty shot selection. These kinks in White’s game might just take time to iron out, since he is still very young and learning in a brand new system for the second time in two years.
White and standout shooting guard Zach LaVine are getting, by far, the most minutes played per game for the Bulls through a dozen games this season. Starting in all 12 games that the Bulls have played in so far this season, White is averaging just south of 36 minutes on the floor per game.
In those dozen games played so far this season, White averaged 17.7 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 0.3 steals, 0.1 blocks, and a whopping 3.1 turnovers. And he’s shot an improved 41.8 percent from the field, 36.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 84.4 percent from the free-throw line.
That all has amounted to a -4.0 box plus/minus rating, .024 win shares per 48 minutes, 53.5 true shooting percentage, and 12.1 player efficiency rating.
In the last four games, we saw a much different version of White in the loss to the Kings than we did the last three losses. White didn’t get a game score close to 15 in the last three games, and was a net negative out on the floor in each of those tries.
