4) Trade targets Chicago Bulls shouldn’t pass on in 20-21
A solid argument could be presented for Karnisovas and the Bulls to try and trade for either forward Aaron Gordon or standout big man Nikola Vucevic from the Orlando Magic. Depending on how this season goes for the Magic (as they’re doing pretty good out of the gates so far), the likes of Vucevic and Gordon could still be on the move if the right deal is presented.
It does seem like the more likely of those two aforementioned Magic players to hit the trade block this season is going to be the former Arizona Wildcat Gordon. And Gordon is off to a good start this season, as are the Magic. Last season we started to see some new breakthroughs in Gordon’s game too.
During the shortened 2019-20 regular season, Gordon played in 62 games for the Magic (starting in all of them). And he averaged 14.4 points per game, 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks. Gordon shot 43.7 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 67.4 percent from the free-throw line.
And through four games played so far this season (all of which he’s started in), Gordon was solid again for the Magic. He’s averaged 12.8 points per game, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.3 blocks. Gordon shot 54.1 percent from the field, 20.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 64.3 percent from the free-throw line.
If the Bulls wanted to add someone that might be able to fill a sixth or seventh man role over the long haul (assuming they’re in a place of a playoff contender), then Gordon could be the way to go.
