1) FA targets that could improve Chicago Bulls roster

Kyle Korver, Shooting Guard/Small Forward

The lone former Bull on this list that is currently on the open free agent market is the former Milwaukee Bucks 6-foot-7 and 215 pound veteran shooting guard/small forward Kyle Korver. This Lakewood, CA, native has now played in 17 years in the NBA and is a one-time NBA All-Star selection from the 2014-15 season with the Hawks.

If there’s a chance that the Bulls could get Korver to sign with them at some point this season, it could do a lot of good things for this rotation. Obviously the shooting threat from deep that Korver brings to the table would completely change the feel of this bench for the Bulls. Donovan could get a lot more versatility from his wing rotation with Korver in the mix.

But you’d have to wonder if there’s a reason why Korver hasn’t signed with another NBA team by this point of the season.

During the shortened 2019-20 regular season, Korver played in 58 games with the Bucks (just one of which he started in). And he averaged 6.7 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks. Korver shot 43.0 percent from the field, 41.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 85.4 percent from the free-throw line.

If the Bulls could still get a version of Korver that could shoot better than 40 percent from downtown, obviously it would be worth it to look into signing him. Their shooting from deep might improve this season, and it’s not bad out of the gates. If it doesn’t get much better this season, though, then Korver can be a possible outlet for progression in this area.
