The biggest problem area for the Bulls through the first three games of the regular season was just general team defense. The Bulls couldn’t stop anything in the first three games, allowing at least 124 points in all of their losses. That all rounded out by allowing 129 points to a Warriors team that hadn’t even come within a dozen points of that mark in their two prior games.

Although the addition of the former Brooklyn Nets 34-year-old veteran shooting guard Garrett Temple should help the Bulls defense on the perimeter or the wing, that’s all they really have. Small forward Otto Porter Jr. is up and down on that end of the floor, and third-year small forward Chandler Hutchison is not off to a good start this season.

A potential option that the Bulls could look to on the wing, or at forward, for help on defense is the former Minnesota Timberwolves and Toronto Raptors 6-foot-6 and 220 pound 25-year-old forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson. Up to this point, Hollis-Jefferson did spent most of his NBA career with the Nets.

During the shortened 2019-20 regular season, Hollis-Jefferson played in 60 games with the Raptors (six of which he started in). And he averaged 7.0 points per game, 4.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.4 blocks. Hollis-Jefferson shot 47.1 percent from the field, 13.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 73.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The last contract that Hollis-Jefferson was signed to was with the Timberwolves during Training Camp and the preseason. But he was waived earlier this month and is currently on the open free agent market.
