4) FA targets that could improve Chicago Bulls roster

Yogi Ferrell, Point Guard

There are problems that have emerged for Donovan and the Bulls at the point guard position at the outset of this regular season. Second-year point guard Coby White might not be the answer at the one for the Bulls starting five. In their loss to the Warriors to round out the weekend, shooting guard Zach LaVine wound up taking most of the point guard duties over White in the starting five.

The Bulls do still have the likes of combo guard Tomas Satoransky and point guard Ryan Arcidiacono backing up White, but there’s no clear option for the starting point guard right now.

If the Bulls did want to at least add more true point guard depth to this rotation, then hitting the free agent market might be the best way to do so. Not much is left among floor generals in free agency at this point of the calendar year, but one intriguing target does remain. The former Sacramento Kings and Dallas Mavericks point guard Yogi Ferrell is still in free agency, and he would be a nice potential fit with the Bulls.

This 27-year-old Indianapolis, IN, native and former Indiana Hoosier Ferrell played in 50 games during the shortened 2019-20 regular season with the Kings (none of which he started in). And he averaged 4.4 points per game, 1.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 blocks. Ferrell shot 40.2 percent from the field, 30.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Ferrell could land with another NBA team in the near future for anyone who needs to fill a roster spot at the point guard position. If the Bulls do find a way to open up a slot in the rotation soon, then Ferrell might be the way for them to go.
