Chicago Bulls: 3 most disappointing players through first 3 games
2) Disappointing Chicago Bulls through 3 games
Coby White, Point Guard
Maybe the most disappointing start for any Bulls player in the starting five through three games this regular season is the former North Carolina Tar Heels second-year point guard Coby White. Donovan and the Bulls planned to make White their set in stone starting point guard this season over the lengthy 6-foot-7 combo guard Tomas Satoransky.
But that move to give White the start at the one over Sato through three games has yet to pan out well. This is a move that looks like it will take a bit of patience both for the Bulls fan base and coaching staff.
White did start in all three games he’s played in for the Bulls so far this season. And he’s averaging just north of 30 minutes played per game.
Through the three games played this season, White averaged 13.7 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.3 blocks, and a whopping 3.3 turnovers. And he’s shot 35.0 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from beyond the arc, and is perfect on four attempts from the charity stripe.
White has also registered a team-low -.055 win shares per 48 minutes, -0.1 total win shares, a 49.1 true shooting percentage, and a 92 offensive rating/team-worst 118 defensive rating. He is one of the few Bulls players that sits with a number of total win shares below zero through three games.
In the loss to the Warriors on Dec. 27, White was a bit improved on both ends of the floor. But his play in that game still left something to be desired. In 36 minutes played against the Warriors, White registered a season-high 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists, no steals, no blocks, and three turnovers. And he shot 8-of-19 from the field, an efficient 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, and didn’t have any attempts from the free-throw line.
