3) Chicago Bulls reserves that should get more minutes

Devon Dotson, Point Guard

If the Bulls point guard woes continue up and down the rotation, then changes are going to need to be made. And that all starts with a potential minutes adjustment if second-year former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard Coby White can’t get it together anytime soon. A reserve player for the Bulls that could fill in some of those minutes is the former Kansas Jayhawks star point guard and the undrafted free agent signing/rookie Devon Dotson.

It would be hard to predict for any Bulls fan that White doesn’t score in double figures in roughly 60 minutes played combined through either of the first two games of the regular season. White scored nine points, with more turnovers than assists yet again, in the Bulls Dec. 26 loss at home to the Pacers.

Moreover, Dotson could fill in some valuable minutes off the bench if Donovan and his staff trust him enough to do so in the near future. The problem with giving Dotson more minutes out of the gates this season is the fact that he didn’t get any playing time during the preseason. Nagging injury issues of late limited Dotson throughout Training Camp and the preseason.

Dotson is a versatile point guard that has a lot of quickness and basketball IQ on both ends of the floor. If Dotson is going to provide a new spark in terms of one-on-one perimeter defense, and more effectively facilitate the offense, then it should be a positive move for Donovan to give him more minutes, and soon.
