3) Former Chicago Bulls fans want back for Christmas

Pick Analysis. 3. player. Scouting Report. Point Guard. Age: 27. Spencer Dinwiddie. 147

Although the time that the current Brooklyn Nets standout 6-foot-5 and 215 pound 27-year-old point guard Spencer Dinwiddie spent with the Bulls was limited, it is notable for a list like this. He did still have a Summer League and Training Camp/preseason stint with the Bulls a few years back, and GarPax wound up parting ways with him too soon.

Granted you can’t blame GarPax too much for missing on Dinwiddie. You’re not going to get every decision right among Training Camp roster cuts and undrafted free agent signings. Still, it is a symbol of the GarPax era that they missed on a talent out of college like Dinwiddie that is finding this level of success elsewhere.

Draft night mistakes for GarPax also included trading the likes of shooting guard Gary Harris, power forward LaMarcus Aldridge, and big man Jusuf Nurkic. Dinwiddie was a mistake of a different nature for GarPax, but fans likely think of it in the same category as those draft night misses.

Dinwiddie is in a good situation playing alongside superstar forward Kevin Durant and fellow point guard Kyrie Irving with a true title contender in the Eastern Conference with the Nets this season. His role could dwindle this season compared to last, though.

During the shortened 2019-20 regular season, Dinwiddie played in 64 games for the Nets (49 of which he started in). And he averaged a career-high 20.6 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.3 blocks. Dinwiddie shot 41.5 percent from the field, 30.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Dinwiddie will be an unrestricted free agent next offseason, so technically there is a possibility that the Bulls could bring him back soon. However unlikely that is.
