Maybe the biggest loss from last season’s Bulls roster, heading into the 2020-21 campaign, will be the former Providence Friars 6-foot-4 and 205 pound defensive standout point guard Dunn. As likely the biggest snub from the NBA All-Defensive Teams last season, Dunn is known as one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA today.

The Hawks got a really good deal for Dunn, considering they got him on a low-risk two-year contract worth $10 million. What the Hawks really needed to do this offseason was find some perimeter help for star point guard Trae Young that would both plug gaps on the defensive end of the floor, and take some of the creating pressure off his shoulders on offense.

And the Hawks were able to accomplish that by adding the likes of Dunn, shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, forward Danilo Gallinari, and veteran point guard Rajon Rondo. This Hawks team truly looks to be one of the most improved rosters in the East this season. The Bulls should be worried about what they can do with a rejuvenated roster, including one of their former players.

During the shortened 2019-20 regular season, Dunn played in 51 games for the Bulls (32 of which he started in). He missed some games in the latter portion of last season due to a lower-body injury. But he should be ready to go for the start of the 2020-21 regular season. And last season he averaged 7.3 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks. Dunn shot 44.4 percent from the field, 25.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 74.1 percent from the free-throw line.
