Which former Chicago Bulls players were the best finds over the offseason for the other 29 NBA teams during this past cycle of free agency?
There were plenty of moves that the Chicago Bulls front office made over the course of the last two or three offseasons that most fans likely didn’t agree with. You really never get an offseason where a fan base is going to fully agree with all of the moves that any team makes in free agency. Although that statement rings especially true for the Bulls new front office regime and what they did in this cycle of free agency this offseason.
Newly hired executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley took the reigns from John Paxson and Gar Forman, and made a lot of moves the fan base liked. But most of the moves that Karnisovas and Eversley made over the offseason that fans in the Windy City liked were within the organization to the front office, scouting department, and coaching staff.
Some of the moves that the Bulls made both in the restricted and unrestricted free agent markets weren’t ones that the fans agreed with. Re-signing the former Michigan State Spartans shooting guard Denzel Valentine and letting the likes of breakthrough combo guard Shaquille Harrison and defensive stopper point guard Kris Dunn walk weren’t the most popular moves for this fan base.
Nonetheless, there is still a lot of brewing excitement for what the Bulls can do under the direction of newly hired head coach Billy Donovan this season. It’s also worth noting how former Bulls players do this season that were steals in this cycle of free agency.
