3) Chicago Bulls Camp free agent targets
It doesn’t really feel like there is a whole lot of potential or unseen promise left in the tank for the former Tennessee Volunteers 29-year-old 6-foot-5 and 180 pound guard Jordan McRae. This true journeyman was the 58th overall pick in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft of the San Antonio Spurs. He’s played for five different teams over the span of more than 120 regular season games in his career to date.
There were three teams that McRae played for at different times last season. He split time between the Detroit Pistons, Denver Nuggets, and Washington Wizards last season (most of the time spent was in the nation’s capital). And in total, McRae played in 37 games during the shortened 2019-20 regular season between those three teams (four of which he started in).
McRae averaged 11.5 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.4 blocks. And he shot 40.7 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 76.1 percent from the free-throw line. McRae proved in recent years that there’s not much that he’s really bad at. But he doesn’t have a huge upside either.
Signing McRae to the Training Camp roster would be a nice look into how that depth addition with fit in with the rest of the backcourt rotation. McRae has yet to sign another deal with a different NBA team in free agency so far. He is definitely one of the more proven guards that is still out there on the open free agent market at this point.
