The Chicago Bulls added another big man to the Training Camp roster on Dec. 6 with the former Vanderbilt 6-foot-10 and 240 pound center Simi Shittu.

The additions to the Training Camp roster for the Chicago Bulls continued over the weekend. The Bulls reportedly signed another familiar face to the Training Camp roster on Dec. 6, with the former Vanderbilt Commodores big man Simi Shittu. The 6-foot-10 and 240 pound native of London, UK, stuck around on the G-League affiliate Windy City Bulls roster for most of last season.

Shittu also played in one preseason game for the Bulls last year, and spent two Summer League runs last offseason with the Memphis Grizzlies. Most notably, he played in 40 games last season with the Bulls in the G-League (starting in 18 of them).

And Shittu averaged 12.3 points per game, 6.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks. He shot 56.9 percent from the field, 14.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 56.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The signing of Shittu could be a sign that he could remain on the G-League Bulls roster heading into the 2020-21 season. He certainly had his flashes with the Bulls in the G-League last season, and newly hired executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas might want to see where the 21-year-old big man’s game is headed.

Shittu did show some promise during his one season playing for Vandy, during the 2018-19 campaign. He played in 32 games during the 2018-19 college hoops season with Vandy (all but one of which he started in). And he averaged 10.9 points per game, 6.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.5 blocks. Shittu shot 46.8 percent from the field, 5.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 57.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Bulls have signed and placed Shittu on waivers multiple times since he went undrafted following the conclusion of the second round of the 2019 NBA Draft. Maybe this is the time that will stick for him.
