1) Chicago Bulls ’21 college draft targets

All of the potential Bulls targets in the 2021 NBA Draft, still early in the 2020-21 college hoops season, are true freshmen and former elite five-star recruits. But neither of the previous two players on this list bring as much potential and hype to the table than the Arlington, TX, native and sensational freshman Oklahoma State Cowboys freshman point guard Cade Cunningham does.

As it stands now, Cunningham is projected to be the top overall pick in the 2021 draft. But you never know if that status will hold (i.e. Duke’s Zion Williamson rising to become the top overall prospect in the 2019 draft class). He did show a lot of progress from just his first to his second game of his college career.

In two games played (both of which he started in) this season for head coach Mike Boynton and the Pokes, Cunningham averaged 20.5 points per game, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks. And he’s shot 50.0 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Coming out of Montverde Academy for this past recruiting cycle, Cunningham ranked as the nation’s top overall 2020 high school prospect (247Sports Composite). And thus he was the top prospect out of Texas and the top point guard.

If there is any world where the Bulls finish off the looming 2020-21 season with some level of promise and hope, and they can get Cunningham in the 2021 draft, this rebuild would be in a really good spot heading into its fifth year. Still, looking that far ahead can be a dangerous game since the Bulls need to do their best to move forward in the Eastern Conference standings next season.
