1) Chicago Bulls underrated remaining FA targets
The safest potential underrated free agent signing for the Bulls of the three names on this list is the former Houston Rockets veteran 34-year-old small forward DeMarre Carroll. This 6-foot-6 and 215 pound two-way wing offers a lot of value for the Bulls if they were to get him for a sort of veteran minimum deal in free agency.
The problem with Carroll is that he didn’t play much last season, and there might be something behind him not having a home a few days into this cycle of free agency. Between his time with the Rockets and San Antonio Spurs during the shortened 2019-20 regular season, Carroll played in just 24 games (none of which he started in).
And he averaged 3.6 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.2 blocks. Carroll shot 37.9 percent from the field, 24.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 69.0 percent from the free-throw line. Those numbers aren’t great, and if the Bulls signed Carroll this offseason they would likely be hoping for him to return to form from a couple of years ago.
Since Carroll did get the better part of the last calendar year, for the most part at least, to recover his body, he should in theory be ready to go for next season. Even if his numbers just improve a bit and he can offer some three-and-D value on the wing for the Bulls next season, he would be worth the signing this offseason.
