2) Chicago Bulls draft targets to replace Dunn
If we’re talking about the best defensive stopper at point guard that could be found outside of the draft lottery in this class, then look no further than the 6-foot-3 and 185 pound former highly touted five-star recruit Tre Jones. This sophomore former Duke Blue Devils floor general had a solid second-year in college. There are still flaws to his offensive game, though.
An improved creating and shooting ability from deep and Jones would be a clear lottery prospect in this class. But similar to that of Dunn, Jones has some pretty severe limitations to his offensive game that will carve a clear niche out for him at the next level in all likelihood.
The replacing of Dunn with Jones would be about the closest thing that the Bulls could get to having the same presence in the rotation heading into next season.
Last season at Duke, Jones racked up a laundry list of accolades and accomplishments. He was an ACC All-Defensive Team selection again, First-Team All-ACC selection, and the 2019-20 ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
Jones played in 29 games during the 2019-20 college hoops season at Duke (all of which he started in). He averaged 16.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks. Jones shot 42.3 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 77.1 percent from the free-throw line.
The good news surrounding the draft stock of Jones is that he did improving his shooting numbers from deep and is one of the overall best perimeter defenders in this class. He registered a 3.1 defensive box plus/minus rating, 94.6 defensive rating, and 3.0 defensive win shares last season.
