Chicago Bulls: 3 potential draft night trades featuring Wendell Carter Jr.
1) Chicago Bulls draft trades featuring WCJ
In this hypothetical trade scenario, the Bulls all-time great shooting guard and Hornets owner Michael Jordan might be able to finally get some concrete pieces to build around heading into the 2020-21 season. The Hornets don’t really have a set in stone player that they can build around at the moment, but that could all change fast on draft night next week.
This particular trade package sees the Bulls ship off the likes of WCJ, Young, former Vanderbilt Commodores seven-footer and center Luke Kornet, and the fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft. In exchange, the Hornets ship off the sizable contract of former Boston Celtics point guard Terry Rozier, shooting guard/wing Malik Monk, and include the former Florida State Seminoles shooting guard Dwayne Bacon. All that comes along with the third overall pick in this year’s draft.
The Bulls get Monk with just one year left on his rookie contract, and Bacon would be brought in on a sign-and-trade deal for his part of the exchange. Rozier brings a pretty large contract that is worth a little more than $18 million per year through the end of the 2021-22 season. At least Rozier’s large contract was mostly front-loaded in terms of his annual base salary.
Since the Bulls are only moving up one slot here, they don’t have to give up a whole lot more on draft night. They would also still get the opportunity likely to get one of the three of Wiseman, Ball, and/or Edwards. If they think that a team like the Warriors or Hornets was trying to get the Maccabi Tel Aviv shooting guard/wing Deni Avdija in the top three, then maybe this assures that the Bulls get him if they really like what he brings to the table.
