3) Biggest Chicago Bulls draft mistakes under Paxson: Promising Chandler Hutchison a pick too early

Although it wasn’t confirmed by GarPax during that same offseason, there are multiple reports surrounding the discussion that the Bulls promised the former Boise State Broncos small forward Chandler Hutchison a pick with their 22 slot in the 2018 NBA Draft. Hutchison was the second pick that the Bulls had in the first round of the 2018 draft.

With the seventh overall pick in the 2018 draft, the Bulls selected the former Duke Blue Devils center Wendell Carter Jr. The pick of WCJ seems to be more potent for the Bulls than that of Hutchison. But neither has particular panned out too well over a consistent basis for the Bulls over the course of the last two seasons.

While it is too early for the jury to be officially out on the pick of Hutchison not working out for the Bulls, the writing is on the wall that he might not be an integral part of the rotation for much longer. His injury history is not promising at all. And even when he is healthy, Hutchison wasn’t all that great for this team.

Not to mention that there were some really underrated role players picked after Hutchison in the late first and early second round of this draft. Passing up namely on the likes of the New York Knicks to-be third-year standout center Mitchell Robinson is hard to swallow for the Bulls. Robinson is already one of the most efficient players in this entire draft class. And he was selected 36th overall in the second round by the Knicks.
