Any draft night trades that the Chicago Bulls new front office regime could pull off should be done so with a lot of caution.
A lot of room for the Chicago Bulls to maneuver around with their fourth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery gives a lot of options on the table for executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley. The Bulls hold the fourth overall pick in the first round of the 2020 draft, and the original Memphis Grizzlies 44th overall pick in the second round.
Moving up or down in the first round of the draft could mean that the Bulls get more help for the rebuild heading into its fourth year. If the Bulls can find a willing trade partner to move down in the draft and get additional future assets, it could be a nice move for Karnisovas and Eversley.
But the front office must proceed with caution if they’re to trade up or down in this draft lottery. There’s no slam dunk in the top five, or even the top three, in this draft class. Maybe there’s a gem find that the Bulls can get to both fill a positional need and add one of the best prospects left on the board if they move down in this draft.
This is a deep class of international prospects and wings if you look around the late lottery, and the mid-teens. Configuring a trade with another team that has a lot of volatility surrounding the organization this year could put the Bulls in a good situation. And maybe a willing trade partner could be the Philadelphia 76ers. According to a report from Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated, the Sixers could be looking to make any number of moves with their five draft picks this year.
Here’s a look at three trades that the Bulls could offer the Sixers to move around in the 2020 draft.
