1) Underrated Chicago Bulls playmaker targets in 2020 draft: Markus Howard

Another potential opportunity for the Bulls to dig deep to find a playmaking guard either in the undrafted free agent pool or in the second round of the 2020 draft is the former Marquette Golden Eagles 5-foot-11 and 180 pound senior point guard Markus Howard. The former four-star recruit and Chandler, AZ, native is an accomplished college hoops player that has an interesting draft process ahead.

Howard was a two-time All-American, three-time All-Big East Team selection, and the 2018-19 Big East Player of the Year. And Howard was pretty consistent during his four years playing for Marquette. He played in 29 games during the shortened 2019-20 season with the Golden Eagles (all of which he started in).

And Howard averaged 27.8 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 0.9 steals. He shot 42.2 percent from the field, 41.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 84.7 percent from the free-throw line. The box plus/minus rating for Howard sat at an astounding 11.0, .240 win shares per 40 minutes, 59.3 true shooting percentage, and 29.2 player efficiency rating.

Although he is one of the older playmaking guards in this draft class, Howard could make an immediate impact in a possible second or third unit role off the bench with a team like the Bulls. He’s also a local product around the Windy City that would have some level of quick transition and appeal with this fan base.
