3) Best defenders for Chicago Bulls to target in 2020 draft: Tre Jones

A finalist for the 2020 Naismith Defender of the Year during the 2019-20 college hoops season, the former Duke Blue Devils sophomore star point guard and the 6-foot-3 and 185 pound Tre Jones. The former five-star recruit that signed with Duke’s 2018 recruiting class is a native of Apple Valley, MN.

Any questions surrounding the draft stock of Jones don’t really have anything to do with his ability on the defensive end of the floor. It’s his inability to really space the floor and be a threat from downtown with the ball in his hands that creates a lot of the question marks for Jones in the 2020 draft class.

Jones is a two-time ACC All-Defensive Team selection, 2019-20 ACC Player of the Year, and was the 2019-20 ACC Defensive Player of the Year. His accolades do plenty to backup his ability on the defensive end of the floor. And the numbers he registered during the 2019-20 season, where he played in 29 games, also do a lot to prove this very point.

Jones averaged 16.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks. And he posted 3.6 defensive rebounds per game, 94.6 defensive rating, 3.1 defensive box plus/minus rating, two defensive win shares, 10.8 defensive rebounding percentage, 2.8 steal percentage, and 0.9 block percentage.
