1) Chicago Bulls draft night trade chips: Luke Kornet

A player that is in definite need of a change of scenery is the former New York Knicks seven-footer and center Luke Kornet. The Bulls weren’t the greatest landing spot for Kornet it seems, who just like the other two players on this list, signed with the team out of free agency last offseason. The signing of Kornet was originally lauded more so than not.

It looked like now former head coach Jim Boylen was going to be able to find a proficient role for Kornet in the frontcourt rotation off the bench. But the rim protection and floor spacing abilities that Kornet showed off in two seasons playing for the Knicks did not translate in his inaugural campaign with the Bulls.

Kornet played in 36 games during the shortened 2019-20 regular season with the Bulls (14 of which he started in). And he averaged 6.0 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.7 shots. Kornet shot 43.9 percent from the field, 28.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.

There has to be a team that the Bulls could get in trade discussions with that would find some level of value in having Kornet come off the bench for them. He’s still got value as a big man that has a modern skill set that fits well in the NBA. And he has well under $2.5 million due for the final year of his current contract.
