3) Chicago Bulls trades to get Aaron Gordon

The Bulls would have a great opportunity to mould their roster more to the shape that Karnisovas and Eversley want it to look for Donovan heading into the 2020-21 season if they were to get into trade discussions with a middling team with a lot of trade chips like the Magic. Orlando might be in a worst spot than the Bulls right now in terms of the outlook of their team.

It is always said that the worst spot to be in the NBA is stewing in your own mediocrity. And the Magic were nothing if mediocre to bad since the end of the Dwight Howard years in the early 2010’s when he was dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers to join forces with the late and great shooting guard Kobe Bryant.

But this particular trade package would help the Bulls get more athletic and reliably healthy amid their projected starting five if they were able to pull of this trade deal. They would be sending the likes of the former Arizona Wildcats seven-footer and fourth-year power forward Lauri Markkanen along with veteran forward Thaddeus Young to the Magic.

In return, the Bulls would get the likes of Gordon and a future lottery protected first round draft pick from the Magic. The Bulls don’t have to mortgage their entire future, and they could see how a frontcourt pairing between to-be third-year center Wendell Carter Jr. and the uber-athletic and improving Gordon would work out for this rebuild.
