3) Chicago Bulls mid-level exception free agent targets: D.J. Augustin

Once again, a common point of discussion for the Bulls front office this offseason appears to be the point guard position. With the Bulls having a bolstered backcourt rotation this year compared to last, the decision for the new look front office regime should be much easier as to how to proceed in this regard compared to previous years under GarPax.

The Bulls could roll with the former North Carolina Tar Heels floor general Coby White as their starting point guard of the future, or could give Tomas Satoransky and/or Kris Dunn another shot. But they would have to re-sign Dunn off of the restricted free agent market if they wanted him to be a key part of their future.

A key free agent target that the Bulls could pursue with their mid-level and/or tax payer exception this offseason to fill any need the front office feels this team has at point guard is with the veteran former Texas Longhorn D.J. Augustin. The well-traveled Orlando Magic point guard had a really solid season with a team that still somehow stayed in playoff contention.

During the 2019-20 season, Augustin played in 57 regular season games with the Magic (13 of which he started in). And he averaged 10.5 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 0.6 steals. Augustin shot 39.9 percent from the field, 34.8 percent from beyond the arc, and 89.0 percent from the free-throw line.
