4) Chicago Bulls mid-level exception free agent targets: Joe Harris

One drum I will keep beating on is that the Bulls should go full boar after the Brooklyn Nets 29-year-old 6-foot-6 and 220 pound shooting guard/small forward Joe Harris. This former Virginia Cavalier and Chelan, WA, native had a very productive last few seasons with the Nets, and he’ll be one of the better role players in free agency this offseason.

Harris was due a little north of $7.5 million during the 2019-20 season in Brooklyn. But he’s set to hit the unrestricted free agent market this offseason, and is likely to have a bevy of suitors going after his services. Landing such a capable offensive and deep shooting threat that can play on the wing like Harris is a highly sought after commodity in the modern NBA.

During the shortened 2019-20 regular season with the Nets, Harris played in 69 games (all of which he started in). In fact, Harris has started in every game he played in over the course of the last two seasons. And during the 2019-20 campaign, he averaged a career-best 14.5 points per game, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.2 blocks.

Harris shot 48.6 percent from the field, 42.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 71.9 percent from the free-throw line. It’s likely that the shooting percentages from the charity stripe for Harris will rebound soon. But the 2020 3-Point Contest champ is a lethal shooter from deep that could both add depth on the wing and help stretch the floor for the Bulls.
