1) Chicago Bulls trades to move up into the top 2

There’s a lot going on here. It will take a lot for the Bulls to trade up with the Timberwolves to get the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. Since Minnesota is still trying to figure out their own building roster around star big man Karl-Anthony Towns and D-Lo, it won’t be easy for any team to trade up to get their first overall pick.

The best way for Karnisovas and Eversley to piece together a convincing argument to get the top pick from the Timberwolves is to help them win even quicker. About the best that the Bulls can do in this regard is sending someone like LaVine to the Timberwolves. Adding LaVine to the starting five that also includes KAT and D-Lo could be risky, but it could also vault this team in the Twin Cities to immediate relevant playoff contention in the Western Conference.

In this trade package in particular, the player exchange involves the Bulls shipping off LaVine and to-be third-year small forward Chandler Hutchison to the Timberwolves. And Minnesota sends former LSU Tigers rookie big man Naz Reid, versatile two-way small forward Josh Okogie, and overpaid forward James Johnson to the Bulls.

The pick exchange is the Bulls fourth overall pick and second round draft pick this year for the Timberwolves just sending the first overall pick.

What the Bulls are getting out of Reid is a very underrated big man that was just out of shape entering the 2019 NBA Draft Combine. He had a solid and promising rookie campaign and could fit in a key role in the Bulls second unit. And Okogie would add more reliable wing depth behind OPJ if he were to take the place of Hutch in the rotation.
