2) Chicago Bulls trades to move up into the top 2

The entire motivation behind this particular trade package between the Bulls and Warriors is piecing together two different ideologies for each team. In this deal, the Warriors are looking to take more of a win now approach while not mortgaging all of their future in case they don’t win another title with their current core.

On the Bulls end of the spectrum, Karnisovas and Eversley are looking to continue to just improve the outlook for the rebuild by stacking more promising pieces into the young core. The Bulls wind up sending Markkanen along with defensive stopper point guard Kris Dunn (in a sign-and-trade deal) to the Warriors for a player return of power forward Kevon Looney and guard Jordan Poole.

The main exchange between the Bulls and Warriors among the players in this trade proposal is Poole for Markkanen. The Warriors have to take a very patient approach with their 2019 first round draft pick and former Michigan Wolverine Poole. He averaged 8.8 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists, while shooting 33.3 percent from the field and 27.9 percent from beyond the arc during his rookie season.

Adding Markkanen and Dunn would give an immediate boost to the Warriors rotation over the likes of Poole and Looney. And the Bulls would be getting two potent pieces to add to their rotation over the long haul while giving up two players that are either in contract years this offseason or next. They still get to move up in the draft too.
