3) Most beneficial landing spots for Chicago Bulls SG Zach LaVine: Golden State Warriors
It would be difficult for any player with the skill set of LaVine to fit into the current backcourt rotation sported by the Golden State Warriors. There might be a niche, thought, for a player like LaVine to succeed even in the starting five for the Warriors. He could play at the two or the three alongside shooting guard/small forward Klay Thompson and point guard Stephen Curry.
The Warriors don’t really have that third guard/wing (beyond Andrew Wiggins) that can play at, or even near, the level that LaVine can.
But why landing with the Warriors would benefit LaVine so much is that he wouldn’t have near as much pressure on his shoulders to be the sole player creating offense. He could focus more on using his versatile tough shot making ability and insane athleticism to craft a new role with a true playoff contender.
That would likely allow LaVine’s assist-to-turnover ratio dramatically improve and his shooting percentages could increase by a good margin too. He already shot 45.0 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from beyond the arc during the shortened 2019-20 regular season. Think about how his efficiency could skyrocket if he had even more open space to work with on offense.
LaVine has also seen a steady increase in the number of field goal makes that he have that are assisted. His two-point and three-point field goal makes in 2019-20 both were at a clip that were season-highs during his run with the Bulls (since 2017-18). Adding in an elite facilitator and shot creator like Curry and someone that can space the floor as occupy as much attention as Thompson alongside LaVine could really help his game.
