1) Former Gators the Chicago Bulls should pursue: Al Horford
There’s going to be a lot of big contracts that could potentially be on the trade block this offseason for any team that is looking to take on a salary dump. And a number of those contracts could come from Eversley’s former team, the Sixers.
At the outset of the 2019-20 regular season, it looked like the two best teams in the East were going to be the Milwaukee Bucks and then the Sixers. Adding standout veteran big man, and former Gator, Al Horford to a team that already had center Joel Embiid, towering point guard Ben Simmons, and forward Tobias Harris, looked like it could have a devastating effect on the rest of the Atlantic Divsion.
But instead of running their division, the Sixers wound up getting into the playoffs in the East as a six-seed and were swept in the first round by their divisional foe Boston Celtics. Horford wasn’t able to do enough to help the Sixers even make it to the second round of the playoffs this year. Maybe it is time for him to go elsewhere.
During the 2019-20 regular season with the Sixers, Horford played in 67 games (starting in all but six of them). He averaged 11.9 points per game, 6.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 0.9 blocks, and 0.8 steals. Horford shot 45.0 percent from the field, 35.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 76.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Giving the Bulls a very talented and versatile veteran big man that can make an impact right away along with re-uniting Donovan and Horford are two good reasons for the Bulls considering going after him.
