The Chicago Bulls just had their latest addition to the scouting department announced with their first female hire at the position in franchise history.

A lot of big moves were made to the Chicago Bulls organization over the course of the last few days. On Sep. 22, the Bulls hired former Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Billy Donovan to assume the same role in Chicago. And executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley made another significant hire on the afternoon of Sep. 23, bringing aboard for the former Spain manager of basketball operations Vanja Cernivec as an international scout.

The Bulls can now start to round out the scouting department since the front office mostly got its remodeling done and the coaching staff got the primary hire out of the way. With John Paxson no longer the lead voice in the front office and Gar Forman out of the organization completely, the remodel of the scouting department could be pretty promising.

This comes at a good time too, since the Bulls have the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery. And the international basketball experience that Cernivec brings to the table for the scouting department will be huge.

The Cernivec hire makes her the first female scout in franchise history. She also played professionally in Slovenia prior to taking the role of manager of basketball operations in Spain. She held the basketball ops role from 2015-2020, prior to landing the Bulls international scouting position this week.

Cernivec has apparently worked with some recognizable names overseas in the past, including Miami Heat veteran point guard Goran Dragic. She should be a great addition to the scouting department, especially with a strong international draft class present in 2020.

The Bulls should continue to fill out their coaching staff, the rest of the front office for whatever’s left, and then the scouting department ahead of the start of the 2020 NBA Draft. The 2020 draft is set for Nov. 18 as it stands now.
