Former Chicago Bulls: KD wants Jamal Crawford to re-sign with Nets
Kevin Durant wants the veteran former Chicago Bulls point guard Jamal Crawford to re-sign with the Nets heading into next season.
Former Chicago Bulls point guard Jamal Crawford didn’t get all that long to have a nice potential last run in the NBA in the bubble. He didn’t play in many games with the Brooklyn Nets, after he signed with them prior to the restart in the bubble at Disney World back in July. In fact, Crawford only played in one game with the Nets in the regular season portion of the restart (posting just five points).
Crawford also didn’t play in a single game with the Nets in their brief first round playoff matchup against the two-seed Toronto Raptors. The banged up seven-seed Nets were missing a very large portion of the best of their rotation against the Raptors. Not even Crawford was ready to go in that playoff series.
But the lack of playoff exposure with the Nets in the bubble this year isn’t keeping all of Crawford’s teammates in Brooklyn from wanting him off the team for next season. Apparently the former Texas Longhorns star Kevin Durant hopes that Crawford will re-sign in free agency for at least one more year and stick around with the Nets heading into next season.
In a podcast last week (monologue thanks to NY Post), Durant opened up on the topic of the Nets roster returning next season and the hiring of former two-time MVP and Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash as their next head coach. Pertaining to the former Bull Crawford, Durant also spoke on the thought of his return to the Nets heading into next season.
Here’s more on what Durant had to say on that subject.
"He also didn’t address the Nets’ loaded roster in any specific sense, saying only that he hoped to see 40-year-old Jamal Crawford, who joined the team in the bubble but pulled his hamstring in his debut, re-signed as a free agent.“I don’t even know if Jamal wants to play again. I would love to have him on the team. I don’t know,” Durant said. “What’s he, about 42, still doing it?”"
The focal point of the Nets roster next season will be star point guard Kyrie Irving, along with KD. But the Nets also have a deep supporting cast for them with the likes of wing Caris LeVert, center Jarrett Allen, point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, etc. KD and Kyrie could lead the Nets to new heights in the Eastern Conference next season.
The last team that Crawford played for consistently was the Suns, back during the 2018-19 season. It will be interesting to see if he returns for at least one more season or officially calls it quits for his playing days in the NBA and retires this
