Rookie Chicago Bulls point guard Coby White recently saw some of his best crossovers from the 2019-20 season posted on the team Twitter page.

A potentially bright future for the Chicago Bulls all starts with how this young core is able to progress heading into the fourth year of the rebuild. The Bulls have a young core that highlights rookie point guard Coby White, power forward Lauri Markkanen, center Wendell Carter Jr., and shooting guard Zach LaVine.

There’s also a chance that the Bulls could add a big piece to the rebuild this offseason with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery. That is unless the Bulls decide to trade that pick for something that adds a more advantageous piece to the young core, or helps them contend in he near future in the Eastern Conference.

At this point, maybe the most important part of the rebuild is the former North Carolina Tar Heel White. He was the seventh overall pick for this squad in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft. In fact, White was the third seventh overall pick in a row that the Bulls had in the first round of the draft. WCJ and Markkanen were also seventh overall picks in the 2018 and 2017 drafts, respectively.

But White was able to do something during his rookie campaign that WCJ was not able to. He was the first Bull to get All-Rookie First or Second-Team honors since Markkanen did during the 2017-18 season. White earned All-Rookie Second-Team honors, in what amounted to an impressive class of guards. That slotted him alongside Tyler Herro and Kendrick Nunn of the Miami Heat and Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies.

White also finished in the top five of the Rookie of the Year award voting, which Morant wound up winning. To get to that point, he played in all 65 regular season games in the season that was for the Bulls.

He averaged 13.2 points per game, 3.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.1 blocks. White shot 39.4 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 79.1 percent from the free-throw line. He really caught fire down the stretch and looks to have a bright future ahead in the Windy City.

Moreover, the Bulls team Twitter page posted a video earlier this week, after he received All-Rookie Second-Team honors, highlighting some of his best crossovers of his rookie season. White truly has one of the quicker and more lethal stepbacks already in the NBA.

He’s sure to make more defenders look silly on the perimeter in the near future with his lightning quick first step and potent stepback shot from three-point land.

The Bulls finished up the 2019-20 season with a record of 22-43, good for 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. White helped push the team to get some of those wins just prior to the pause.
