2) Trades to get Giannis to the Chicago Bulls:

The centerpiece to this particular trade package, between the obvious of the Giannis exchange, is the move by the Bulls and Bucks to swap their 2020 first round draft picks. Instead of mortgaging off the entire future of the Bulls rebuild, newly hired executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley can exchange some draft picks.

The Bulls do still ship off LaVine, Carter Jr., and Markkanen, to get the return of Giannis and forward DJ Wilson. There’s at least an overall boost to the forward depth between Giannis and Wilson. They also get the Bucks first round draft pick this year, which comes in the late 20’s, but at least it’s something in return.

If the Bucks really feel like moving on from Giannis now is the best idea, then they could have a realistic trade deal like this. And just like is true for the other two trade packages listed here, it revolves around the idea that Giannis is willing to stick around beyond the 2021 offseason and sign an extension with the Bulls.

Giving up the fourth overall pick along with three key pieces of the young core is an awfully large price tag for the Bulls to pay to get Giannis. But again it is worth it if Giannis is willing to buy into what the Windy City brings him over the long haul. And the Bucks get a good enough return to start their own rebuild around LaVine and wing Khris Middleton.
