3) Chicago Bulls players to watch in group workouts: Kris Dunn

With group workouts starting back up, a lot of the attention from the coaching and training staff, along with the new front office regime, should fall on players that are battling for roster spots for next season. But this list specifically takes a look at players that are set to come back in all likelihood next season.

The one player on this list that falls into a gray area is the former Providence Friars and Minnesota Timberwolves 6-foot-4 defensive stopper point guard Kris Dunn. As part of that trade that sent former Bulls star shooting guard/small forward Jimmy Butler to the Heat for the return of Dunn, among a few other players, he was expected to be a big part of this rebuild.

But Dunn didn’t really live up to the hype of a point guard in the upper echelon of starters at the position in the NBA. In fact, this was the first season where it was planned for Dunn to come off the bench. That was at least until injuries started to take hold of this rotation and he wound up getting more starts than not for the 51 games he played in.

In the season that was for Dunn and the Bulls, he averaged 7.3 points per game, 3.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks. He shot 44.4 percent from the field, a rather poor 25.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 74.1 percent from the free-throw line. Dunn was a defensive standout, but he might need to show some progress in his offensive game in the near future.
