3) Chicago Bulls targets in a Thaddeus Young trade: Kyle Kuzma
A player that the Bulls could target in a potential trade deal involving Young getting shipped out of the Windy City, but would need other pieces included to make it all work, is the Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma. The Lakers do need that big-time third piece alongside the superstar duo of forward LeBron James and big man and Chicago native Anthony Davis.
Now getting Young alongside LeBron and AD with the Lakers won’t be that third star they’re looking for. But trading Kuzma to the Bulls could help get them involved in a potential trade discussion that could land them that third star. Maybe the Bulls and Lakers could get a third team involved in these discussions too.
What the exchange of Young and Kuzma does for each side is give the Lakers another valuable and consistent two-way forward that really pushes them forward in a positive sense in the playoffs. And Kuzma would give the Bulls a potent scoring forward that they need to add another key piece to this young core.
During the 2019-20 season with the Lakers, Kuzma played in 61 games (only nine of which he started in). He averaged a career-low 12.8 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks. Kuzma shot 43.6 percent from the field, 31.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 73.5 percent from the free-throw line.
The Bulls and Lakers would really be rolling the dice with this trade deal, but it is still a good idea to tool around with for both sides.
