Some fairly accomplished and proven former NBA head coaches are out there for hire by the Chicago Bulls to replace Jim Boylen.
The next chain reaction of events could now be starting for the Chicago Bulls organization after parting ways with now former head coach Jim Boylen, back on Aug. 14. That was the first major news that transpired for this Bulls organization since all the front office changes occurred back in spring.
The Bulls need to find the right next head coaching hire after they faltered again in the third year of the rebuild. They finished up with a record of 22-43 prior to the pause during the 2019-20 season. That was good for placing them 11th in the Eastern Conference standings.
Really the last two head coaching hires were complete whiffs for this organization. Former head coach Fred Hoiberg was at least better than Boylen, but he only guided the Bulls to the playoffs on one occasion. They barely missed out on the playoffs during Hoiberg’s first year at the helm. The lone occasion where the Bulls got into the playoffs under the direction of Hoiberg or Boylen was during the 2016-17 season. And they were bounced in the first round in a six game series during the 2017 playoffs.
The next step in the Windy City is to find the right head coach to last under the new look front office regime of executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Everlsey. They replace John Paxson and Gar Forman as the new lead voices in the front office, which was a good move for this franchise.
There are a number of intriguing head coaching candidates that keep landing on the open market, but three in particular could stick out among former NBA head coaches.
