1) Why Chicago Bulls should hire Billy Donovan: Enters next season with momentum

This point builds off the last one for why the Bulls should really consider hiring Donovan as their next head coach to replace Boylen. Since Donovan was one of the finalists to take the Coach of the Year Award back to OKC this year, then it is mind-boggling why he isn’t with the same job just a few weeks later.

But this could really play to the Bulls benefit that a proven head coach like Donovan could just fall into their laps. A commonly mentioned problem with why the Bulls might not hire Donovan is that they have the tendency to not go after the sensical head coaching candidate whenever this position opens in their organization.

The Reinsdorfs never tend to run an organization that makes the common sense move in this type of situation. But we’ll see what happens since such a proven head coach candidate emerged on the open market. The Thunder didn’t have all that good of a roster, and Donovan took them to a five-seed in the ultra-deep and challenging Western Conference.

One successful offseason under the direction of the new front office regime of executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas (formerly Denver Nuggets general manager) and general manager Gar Forman (formerly Philadelphia 76ers senior VP of player personnel) and Donovan might have a good enough roster to win now with the Bulls. This could be a very solid situation that the Bulls run into if they’re able to hire Donovan after his time with the Thunder coaching staff ended.
