Former Chicago Bulls combo guard Jimmer Fredette will once again be taking his talents to the CBA to join the Shanghai Sharks.
According to a Eurohoops report over the weekend, former Chicago Bulls and BYU Cougars sharpshooting guard Jimmer Fredette has signed to re-join the Chinese Basketball Association this year with the Shanghai Sharks. The move was announced by Jimmer with his family in a post on social media this weekend, more specifically on Sep. 6.
During the 2019-20 season, Jimmer played professionally overseas in Europe with Panathinaikos. He made the move to play with Panathinaikos after spending three years wtih the Shanghai Sharks in the CBA. But his contract was dissolved early as the team made cuts in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The first season that Jimmer played overseas in the CBA was back during the 2016-17 campaign. He joined Shanghai after a brief six game total stint between playing with the New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans during the 2015-16 regular season.
There was also a brief six game stint that Jimmer had with the Phoenix Suns in the NBA last season. But that contract with the Suns was signed in March 2019, and only lasted through the conclusion of the 2018-19 season. He made his way to play in Europe for the 2019-20 campaign after his time with the Suns ended.

Fredette played in more than 240 career regular season games in the NBA, with five different teams. Those five teams were the Knicks, Bulls, Pelicans, Sacramento Kings, and the Suns. Most of his NBA career was spent playing for the Kings.
In his career in the regular season, Fredette averaged 6.0 points per game, 1.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 0.4 steals. He did that while shooting 40.9 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 87.9 percent from the free-throw line. He was never really able to find that Jimmer magic in the NBA that he had during his amazing postseason runs with the BYU hoops program.
And during the 2019-20 season playing with Panathinaikos, Jimmer averaged 13.2 points per game, 2.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 0.7 steals. He shot an impressive 52.6 percent from the field, 49.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 91.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Jimmer only played in less than 10 career games with the Bulls, but he is remembered from his college hoops days by a good portion of basketball fans around the country. At 31 years old, Jimmer will keep pushing his pro career along overseas by returning to the CBA for a fourth season with the Sharks.
