The 2020 offseason could be a time now that Arturas Karnisovas starts to build out the second unit of the rotation for the Chicago Bulls.

Turning to the trade market would be a good way for the Chicago Bulls to immediately improve the roster heading into the 2020-21 season. It would also be a good way for the Bulls to get back in playoff contention and start appealing to some of the stars that are set to hit the free agent market as part of that illustrious 2021 class.

Recently hired executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas (formerly Denver Nuggets general manager) and general manager Marc Eversley (formerly Philadelphia 76ers senior VP of player personnel) have a lot on their plate this offseason. They’ve already made significant moves to try and get this rebuild moving in the right direction heading into its fourth year.

The front office received a near complete overhaul back in spring, and then Karnisovas and Eversley parted ways with now former head coach Jim Boylen back on Aug. 14. Boylen carried a record of 39-84 during his two seasons as the Bulls head coach. The Bulls finished up with a record of 22-43 in the season that was, good for 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

With all of these seemingly positive changes happening now, where could the Bulls go from here?

A lot of the decision making and pressure to get the rebuild heading in a more positive direction this offseason will fall on the shoulders of Karnisovas. But he did a good job building up the Nuggets, with the core of guard Jamal Murray and big man Nikola Jokic, over the course of the last five seasons.

Here’s a look at three trade targets that Bulls could look into that should fit well with Karnisovas given his track record from his time as the Nuggets general manager.
