Configuring a trade to land a true NBA star this offseason might take the Chicago Bulls parting ways with shooting guard Zach LaVine.
All options should be on the table for the Chicago Bulls to get a better grasp on the direction that this rebuild is going heading into its fourth year. The Bulls reshaped the look of the organization from the top-down, including major changes within the entirety of the front office and coaching staff.
It all started with the demotion of former vice president of basketball operations John Paxson to a senior advisor role and the entire parting ways with former general manager Gar Forman. Paxson was replaced by former Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas, as the next lead voice in the front office.
And Forman was replaced by former Philadelphia 76ers senior vice president of player personnel Marc Eversley, who will be taking over as the next general manager. The official title for Karnisovas will be executive vice president of basketball operations.
Since then, the Bulls have also parted ways with now former head coach Jim Boylen, which originally happened back on Aug. 14. Boylen led the Bulls to a record of 39-84 over the course of his two seasons with the organization.
The current status of the offseason for the Bulls is finding the next step in their head coaching search and planning out what to do with the fourth overall pick they landed in the 2020 NBA Draft. The Bulls jumped up three spots in the lottery odds order to get the fourth pick in the 2020 draft.
But they also have this trade and free agent market to work together improvements to the roster and the future of this rebuild. If they decide to trade 25-year-old shooting guard Zach LaVine, who should they target in return this offseason?
