3) Bulls most tradeable contracts: Tomas Satoransky, Guard

Among the three major free agent signings for the Bulls last offseason, maybe the most tradeable of the bunch is the former Washington Wizards combo guard and the lengthy 6-foot-7 Tomas Satoransky. The deal that the Bulls got Sato on in a sign-and-trade deal last offseason from the Wizards looked to be pretty solid at the time.

And the length and versatility that Sato brings to the table as a modern combo guard in the NBA should still present a decent amount of trade value on the open market. When he’s at his best, Sato is a good facilitator, efficient primary or secondary ball handler, and a consistent outside shooter. The problem for the Bulls was that Sato wasn’t anything of the sort down the stretch in the season that was.

Sato played in all 65 games for the Bulls (starting in all but the final one of them). He averaged 9.9 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.1 blocks. Sato shot 43.0 percent from the field, 32.2 percent from beyond the arc, and 87.6 percent from the free-throw line.

That amounted to a -1.3 box plus/minus rating, 0.3 value over replacement player rating, .090 win shares per 48 minutes, 3.5 total win shares, and a 53.3 true shooting percentage.

A lot of the per game stats, shooting percentages, and advanced metrics for Sato were either career lows or his worst since his rookie season with the Wizards. But the good news for the Bulls is that Sato’s play should either even out next season, or he should still bring a decent return on the trade market given the two years remaining on his contract, worth $20 million in total.

The final year of his contract is only partially guaranteed too.
