Former Chicago Bulls players are all over the place in the bubble at Disney World finding more success than they ever did in the Windy City.
Well outside of the playoff picture at the pause of the 2019-20 season in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic back in mid-March, the Chicago Bulls were not able to participate in the NBA’s 22-team restart. Back on July 30, the NBA started their games in the bubble plan at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL.
In the Eastern Conference, there were only nine teams that made the NBA’s restart. The only team outside of the playoff picture that made it in was the Washington Wizards, but they fell well outside of the final spot in the playoffs in the East. The Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic wound up claiming the final two spots in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
At this point, the NBA is well into the first round playoff matchups. With the Bulls having not played in any games since March 10 (when they knocked off the Cleveland Cavaliers at home), fans in the Windy City have to find other rooting interests in the restart. Some will coast to the bigger names among former Bulls in the playoffs like Miami Heat star small forward Jimmy Butler, Los Angeles Clippers recently signed veteran center Joakim Noah, and Milwaukee Bucks sharpshooting guard/wing Kyle Korver.
But there’s a number of other former Bulls players still active in the season restart that are worth giving some attention and recognition to. It is also good to see what might’ve went right and wrong with the player development and retention (or lack thereof) in the past five or 10 years.
Here’s a look into the three former Bulls players that are finding the most surprising success in the NBA’s season restart at Disney World.
