Early in the rise of the Bulls in the late 1980’s, one of the biggest divisional foes they had to down were the Cleveland Cavaliers. And one of the integral parts of that Cavaliers team that nearly rose to the occasion and passed up the Bulls in the late 1980’s was the four-time All-Star selection and four-time All-NBA Team selection point guard Mark Price.

Somehow Price has not received a Hall-of-Fame induction at this point. The Basketball Reference Hall-of-Fame probability gives him less than a 20 percent chance of getting inducted at some point soon, though. Injuries did start to cause the downfall of Price’s career once he reached his early 30’s.

With that, most of the career matchups in the playoffs between Pippen and Price came in late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Pippen did own the heavy edge over Price in the playoffs, with a record of 16-6 in 22 tries. But Price did own a slight edge in the regular season over Pippen, with a record of 17-14.

In those 22 games played between Price and Pippen in the playoffs, the former averaged 17.2 points per game, 2.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 0.9 steals. He shot 46.5 percent from the field, 43.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 94.3 percent from the free-throw line. And Pippen averaged 17.0 points per game, 8.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.1 blocks. Pippen shot 45.7 percent form the field, 24.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 67.3 percent from the free-throw line.
