1. Kris Dunn, Point Guard
The last name on this list presents a key decision that the Bulls will have to make this offseason in terms of a looming restricted free agency. The 6-foot-4 former Providence Friars defensive stopper point guard Kris Dunn was in the final year of his rookie contract during the 2019-20 season. And he’ll command at least starter level money for the qualifying offer on his offer sheet during this round of restricted free agency.
The value that Dunn brings to the table for the Bulls is almost exclusively known to be on the defensive end of the floor. He should without a doubt be considered one of the best on-ball perimeter defenders in the NBA. His athleticism, length, and overall gifted physical tools make him a matchup nightmare on that end of the floor.
However, the shooting percentages for Dunn have disappointed four years into his NBA career. Especially in the season that was for the Bulls, Dunn could not find his shooting rhythm from downtown. He shot 44.4 percent from the field, 25.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 74.1 percent from the free-throw line.
That amounted to a rather poor 48.7 effective field goal percentage and 51.0 true shooting percentage for Dunn. If we did figure out anything for Dunn’s offensive skill set this season, it was that opposing defenders will leave him open from beyond the arc and he is best when his mindset is to attack and find his teammates. He’s a decent facilitator and can fight through contact.
