3. Otto Porter Jr., Small Forward
Possibly the least obvious name to include on a list like this is the former Washington Wizards veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr. The 27-year-old 6-foot-8 and 200 pound St. Louis, MO, native and Georgetown Hoyas product has spent much of his Bulls tenure thus far dealing with lower-body injuries.
And that’s nothing to the fault of Boylen, but a change of scenery in terms of locker room culture and coaching staff could be exactly what this portion of the Bulls rotation needs. Extra rest this offseason and the much-needed makeover that both the front office and coaching staff are getting within this organization should do nothing but help a player in OPJ’s situation.
Since landing with the Bulls at the 2019 trade deadline, OPJ has played in just 29 games in the Windy City. He spent most of the 2019-20 regular season dealing with a hairline fracture in his foot. Thus he only got to play in 14 games in the season that was.
In his 29 games played in total since landing with the Bulls, OPJ averaged 14.8 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.5 blocks. He shot 46.6 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 81.4 percent from the free-throw line. The 58.5 true shooting percentage, 1.7 box plus/minus rating, and efficient turnover rate lower than nine percent are all factors that OPJ brings to the table game in and game out that the Bulls could really need next season.
