Where could the Chicago Bulls look to build out the roster heading into next season with now former head coach Jim Boylen unseated?
The writing was on the wall for a while that the Chicago Bulls wouldn’t be making the right move if they held onto now former head coach Jim Boylen for all that long. Boylen was known as one of the least popular head coaches in the NBA, and his team didn’t seem to like him very much. And he is now out of the head coaching position in the Windy CIty.
Once ownership enacted the front office changes back in spring, one of the first expected major changes within the organization was expected to be parting ways with Boylen. Even though it took a while, that’s what the new look front office regime did at the conclusion of the regular season (the NBA’s restart version of it in the bubble at Disney World).
The front office changes that were made started with the effective demotion of former vice president of basketball operations John Paxson to more of a senior advisor role and the complete parting ways with former general manager Gar Forman. Paxson was replaced by the former Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas as the lead voice in the front office. And Forman was replaced by the former Philadelphia 76ers senior vice president of player personnel Marc Eversley to be the Bulls next general manager.
Now that the Bulls have officially moved on from Boylen as head coach, the focus will turn to reflecting on what went wrong during his tenure in the Windy City and where this coaching search will go from here. To the former of those two points, the Bulls will have more work to do on altering the roster construction this offseason (and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing).
Here’s a look into three players on the current Bulls roster that should go now that Boylen is no longer head coach.
