Chicago Bulls: 3 most replaceable players on current roster
1. Otto Porter Jr., Small Forward
And the final name on this list is not only the highest paid of these three, but on the entire Bulls cap sheet entering the thick of the offseason. Former Washington Wizards veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr. has a player option that he can pickup this offseason, and there’s little to no chance that he won’t.
Moreover, OPJ is by far the most valuable player on this list to the Bulls team, and also the most talented. But he is also by far the most expensive and one of the most injury prone. Since landing with the Bulls from the nation’s capital last season at the trade deadline, OPJ has only played in 29 games.
A once solid deal at the deadline, by all indications originally, for the Bulls hasn’t churned out much results. They send the forward combination of Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis for the return of OPJ (neither of which still play for the Wizards). If OPJ can actually stay healthy from here on out, this could be a different story, though.
In the season that was, OPJ played in 14 games (starting in just nine of them due to minutes restrictions at certain points of the year). He averaged 11.9 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks. OPJ shot 44.3 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 70.4 percent from the free-throw line.
If there is a trade out there that would allow the Bulls to effectively get off the contract of OPJ, with a decent return, that could be a good idea to explore this offseason.
