Chicago Bulls: 3 reasons to trade for Ben Simmons
2. Provide a solidified face of the franchise
The fact that the Bulls don’t have a bona fide anchor to the backcourt rotation that provides any solidified star presence as it stands now. But the franchise had a true problem since the rebuild began that they don’t have that true star presence to build around. Getting that player into the mix would be a great way to provide more direction for the rebuild heading into its fourth year.
To a bigger point, the Bulls do need to find a tangible direction to reshape this rebuild or else it will start going nowhere again after ownership spent so much money to rebuild the front office. Former Denver Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas and ex-Sixers vice president of player personnel Marc Eversley shouldn’t be brought over to keep things as is.
Eversley has that Sixers connection with Simmons, and that should be something that attracts both sides to meet up in the Windy City. Simmons would be a fantastic addition to this roster, of course assuming he’s able to stay mostly healthy through his prime years in the NBA. It’s just a matter of how much it would cost for the Bulls to get him to the Windy City.
Just three years into his career, Simmons is already a two-time NBA All-Star selection, 2017-18 Rookie of the Year award winner, and a member of the 2017-18 All-Rookie First Team. Simmons already holds more career All-Star selections than any other current Bulls players, which says a lot about the current state of this roster.
