Chicago Bulls: 3 least tradeable contracts on current roster
1. Otto Porter Jr., Small Forward
Another recent addition among the highest paid players on the current Bulls cap sheet, former Washington Wizards veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr. was acquired at the 2019 trade deadline. Yet again, the narrative that the Bulls made a seemingly good deal at the time in a trade or free agent signing doesn’t look all that great now.
The Bulls parted ways with the young forward combination of Chicago native Jabari Parker and Bobby Portis last year at the trade deadline to get OPJ to the Windy City. But Parker is now with the Atlanta Hawks and Portis now with the Knicks. This trade hasn’t really worked out well for any side at this point.
Moreover, OPJ has by far the most expensive contract on the Bulls current cap sheet. He’ll be due more than $28 million next year. He does have a player option this offseason, but there’s little to no chance that he doesn’t pick it up. OPJ was constantly plagued by injury since landing with the Bulls last year too.
He played in 14 games in the season that was. And he’s only played in 29 games total since landing in the Windy City last season. He averaged 11.9 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.4 blocks. OPJ shot 44.3 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 70.4 percent from the free-throw line. He’s not ending his latest season in the NBA on a high note.
