2. Thaddeus Young, Forward

The Bulls looked to do a good job originally last offseason with their three major free agent signings. Former Indiana Pacers veteran small/power forward Thaddeus Young was the headliner for their major free agent signings last offseason, and he’ll be paid just over $42 million by the time his current contract is all said and done.

The other two of the three major free agent signings for the Bulls from last offseason included ex-Wizards guard Tomas Satoransky (three years, worth $30 million) and former New York Knicks center Luke Kornet (minimum deal). Sato started off the season well, but Kornet wasn’t too effective at any point.

And Sato’s play and efficiency really tailed off down the stretch in the season that was.

In the season that was for the Bulls, Young did play in 64 games (starting in 16 of them). He averaged 10.3 points per game, 4.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks. Young shot 44.8 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 58.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Young is due around $12-13 million over the course of each of the next two years (the remainder of his current contract). His run with the Bulls thus far was also a good bit less efficient than his time with the Pacers. There’s still time to salvage that, but his trade value has gone down in the meantime given that he’s not on a cheap contract.
